Hi! My name is Kari Elhard and I serve the students at the Montessori School of Marion as their art teacher. We have a lot of fun exploring art from around the world, including architecture, textiles, and traditional art.

The 2017-2018 school year was my first year teaching at MSM. Prior to that, I taught preschool art and music for the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department. I also spent time as a teacher assistant at Holloway House Learning Center. I hold a State of Iowa Substitute Teacher license.

I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Economics and a minor in Journalism. I spent most of my early career as a newspaper reporter and editor. When my children were small, I stayed home with them while teaching my Parks and Recreation classes.

My husband, Shaun, and I have three children: Addy (12), Annika (8), and Isaiah (7). We're a very active family and enjoy spending time outside hiking, biking and gardening.
